You can't both tell people to, say, be connected to your Pokémon and then not allow them to actually USE them.
Those two tactics do not go together except in the minds of people who don't actually have the first locked down. I care about my Pokémon and therefore I give zero shits if I can't transfer them.
The side series are whatever, but it's required in the main series because it always has been within reason. And they know it's bad to not have it so fuck them for not taking their damn time.
Articles like pic related don't even matter because if you cared about your Pokémon then NOTHING would replace them.
It's like saying, "This cake is great!" despite it literally being a pile of frosting and some fruit - it lacks the basics to be a good cake no matter how much frosting and fruit they pile on your plate.
