Do you think all the losses of Ash in past seasons are worth it? Personally as frustrating they were at the time, they do increase tension and stakes whenever the final championships come in. I guess Alola win took a bit of thunder of the latest win but the feeling when we thought Pikachu fainted really highlighted for me how much the big "what ifs" based on past losses were important to the emotional investment. It's ridiculously long with 25 years on its back but man did it really hit with this ep.
