One system is cheaper than two and Nintendo's time and resources can now be focused on a single device which allows more games to be produced for it. Having a "true handheld successor" would kill the Switch by nullifying the portable feature of the system. Pokemon on the Switch would be great since it's far superior to the 3DS in raw power (remember those framerate dips in SM with double battle?).
