How do you do singles? I can only assume you're doing 3v3 or getting timed. I haven't been able to finish a single 6v6 singles battle this gen with out the timer intervening. Now given I only tried 3, but by the 3rd my attitude was done with it.

I often wonder why evasion is even in pokemon still. There is nothing skillful about it and it sucks to play against in game because it just wastes your time.

Also losing to double team spam in battle tower is AIDS.

Get a sample team from Smogon and start playing games. Team building is going to be nearly impossible without extensive metagame experience. Even really good players don't build all their own teams. Make sure you use good/OP mons like Pex, Cleff, Corv, etc. Avoid shit mons unless you seriously know what you are doing. This should be obvious but low ladder is full of garbage.

Good channels for serious analysis are BKC's channel and Finchinator's channel.

stunfisk is a pretty approachable subreddit but not as active as Smogon forums

I pulled Clefairy out of my ass just to make the point, mainly because it was originally planned to be the franchise mascot instead of Pikachit.

I suppose a more popular mon would be used for a third version mascot, but I didn't want to ponder that for no substantial reason. I mean, who would it be? Charizard doesn't work because it's fully evolved. Maybe Jigglypuff.

Third versions don't sell as well as their paired predecessors anyway, so I think something like Clefairy would be alright. If it's targeted to less casual fans by including all mons, the mascot doesn't need to be that popular.
