It also no longer has the goodwill of being the "first" 3D game or a new generational leap, where people were more forgiving. By now and after the Dexit, people are tired of steps in the right direction. That's all without mentioning the performance issues or bugs.
The only thing SV really does better than the 3DS games is the open world which pales in comparison to other similar games.
