>>28082600So after some meticulous thinking, i've come to the conclusion that it'd be better to have full gen representation over my personal interests. After all, Pokemon is a series that now spans 7 generations, and each generation has its fans. Since Smash Bros is a game about recognizable faces duking it out, each gen rep would have to be, at the very least, a top 10 most recognizable Pokemon.
Since Pokemon right next to Mario as the most recognizable franchise in the world, it makes sense for it to have 8 slots dedicated to it in the game. One of those slots would absolutely have to be Pikachu, but since Gen I is very popular, it'd be the only one that gets 2 reps, because it would be cheating to only include the mascot of the company. So, as for each gen, the best possible options would most likely be:
Gen I:
>Pikachu and Charizard/Gengar/Mewtwo (Three popular options with lots of moveset possibilies. Maybe there could be a poll to determine who'd make it)Gen II
>Most likely Scizor, but some could argue Tyranitar could somehow fit.Gen III: Many possible Options here like Blaziken, Breloom among others, but i personally think that Deoxys would be interesting because of his different formes.
Gen IV
>As much as it pains me to say, Lucario. Regardless of Ken's nepotism, it's the face of Gen IV, so it staysGen V:
>This one is polarizing for most. Most likely option here would be Zoroark, but it's a mixed bag Gen and they could go wild with the choice, but i'd love to see Golurk.Gen VI:
>Greninja, who i grew to like a lot in time. Now he gets the bonus of being the most famous pokemon of the past decade and a clear fan-favorite, but if he returns, i'd like for his moveset to be overhauled. I'm still disappointed they didn't implement protean and that he can't unfurl his tongue for long distance attacks or grabs. Also, Substitute should NOT be a counter.Gen VII
>We have yet to seeThis way there's nice gen representation while pleasing most.
