If you want to flesh the Pawniard family out, here's what I'd do instead:
>Introduce an unrelated two-stage horse 'mon based on knights and the Katsura tree. Lore is that the Bisharp/Kingambit clans in [x region] have domesticated them and ride the evolved stage into battle. The first stage is mono-Grass, but if you give it a Leader's Crest to hold and level it up, it'll evolve into a Steel/Grass-type war horse with Bisharp-style armor. Once your horsemon evolves, you can pair it with a little Pawniard jockey to buff its stats and combine their abilities, Calyrex-style.>Introduce a new mythical: a gold-plated Pawniard that looks like the in-between stage between it and a Bisharp, based on the promoted pawn piece ("tokin") in shogi. It has Pawniard's stat distribution, but with +30 to every stat and an additional +10 to Attack. The lore is that once every 1,000 years, a gold-plated Pawniard is born, one who will wage a ruthless, unceasing war across the land until every Pawniard, Bisharp, and Kingambit clan is united under a single banner. oh yeah and its ability is Good as Gold, have fun smoggies :^)>everything else in the picFine as is.
