I really want to see the established in-game maps. In order for me to do a high-detail map to the quality I really want to achieve, I'm going to need to know what's on each route and what's in each town, and where. ESPECIALLY if you guys want it to reflect the "finished product", which might require me to wait until there is a finished over-all map for me to work with.
Otherwise, i can just wing it and go with what's already establish, so long as there's no need for the high-detail illustrated map to directly reflect the in-game map the way Gamefreak's maps do for their games.
What sounds better? I can do a vague impression, like I did for my own Atmosa map, leaving a fair bit up to the imaginations of the players, or we can go for that "authentic gamefreak feel" and do it as a mirror to the in-game map.
