but I don't think you understand the point of an oasis, an oasis is a self sustaining ecosystem trapped in the center of a vast desert, it's a place where, if a small group of settlers made it there, they could easily build it up into a thriving town. They certainly wouldn't build a town there and then suddenly abandon it.
