Not bad, their ban system can help balance the singles meta game greatly. Well their guides can give a good basis on how to play a Pokemon, which can help. People may hate them for being metafags, but a games meta comes no matter what. Further more their tier options actually allow some Pokemon to get a stage in the spot light.
However the part that is cancerous is the ones who try to enforce the smogon rules outside of Showdown or Smogon related things. And it can get it can get irritating seeing the same Pokemon over and over, but as stated, that happens in any game.
Overall, they're not as bad as people make them out to be. I prefer them for singles since singles don't have nearly as much options for surprising tricks than doubles has so their balance does help. Let Smogonfags play how they want and let VGCfags play how they desire. That should be all.
II miss their old descriptions of Pokemon that went away in the strategydex update. They could be funny, oh well atleast the smog can be entertaining at times.
