This is a 480p game. It is running at 480p internal resolution. **480p.** AKA the resolution Gamecube titles ran at back in **2001.**
Literally over two decades later, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company are outputting garbage that looks and performs worse (30fps vs 60fps) than GC games from when I was a baby. And it's lower resolution than the already shitty 720p screen of their 2013 Android tablet games console.
This is because Game Freak is a moronic ass-backwards studio that is stuck in the past when pixelart games could be developed in a year by a small team. They refuse to do anything more than the bare minimum it takes to entice 13-year olds to buy their horseshit with Mommy's credit card. I will not be buying any more GameFreak games as long as I live, and neither should you.
