Pic related being a prime example if we exclude items and grinding like others in this thread have. Even levelling up the starter on every NPC avaialble and being the same level as the gym leader, Cheren is difficult due to multiple work up and stab. You're basically hoping for good luck. Compare this to spamming bubble on Brock or double kick of Roxanne being a guaranteed victory.
I'm not really talking about the difficulty setting stuff it introduced (I would like to see it tried again but improved upon) But PWT, subway, tree/tower and the achievements really do require some dedication.
