>>36962661I did start with Gen 1, and I did have fun. I had even more fun with Gen 3, and more still with Gen 4 and the Physical/Special split that made using a lot of Pokemon less frustrating, and only by around 2010 did I begin getting into competitive; long after Gen 4 cemented itself as my favorite gen. After that, I enjoyed White 2 more than everything else as far as singleplayer goes, and Triple Battles to this day remain my favorite format.
And then Gen 6 came and ended up pretty casual trash in the singleplayer that even a Nuzlocke couldn't salvage outside of maybe the Elite 4, and finally 7 as a solid improvement but still nothing compared with the DS era.
Fucking guess why me and many others, I'd say the majority, will claim Platinum, HGSS, BW2, or maybe Emerald as our favorite game? BECAUSE THEY HAD THE MOST IN THEM. The most variety in gameplay, the meatiest endgame, the hardest challenges, the most interesting new gameplay elements, the motherfucking Underground. Why the FUCK would you assume my favorite and most memorable gen was the one I started with? I know Sinnoh like the back of my hand and have fond memories of just about every facet of those games. I have over 2,000 hours in Gen 4 alone, more than every other generation combined, and yes Pearl was like 500 of those because I guess I found watching the HP of a Blissey falling over the course of 30 seconds cathartic. There was so much to explore ingame, in the multiplayer side activities, and in the competitive realm that had taken the largest leap it ever had and still has.
Fuck off and stop buying into Gamefreak's bullshit because you want to see an eevee on your head. I didn't need my Sandslash following me in Yellow for me to love it to death and imagine it loved me back too. Take your cancerous opinions elsewhere.
