Platinum felt like the logical conclusion to the franchise in so many ways, complete with a comfy Villa to retire to at the end of the game. Gen 5 was like the soft reboot where the series started losing its soul- it moved the mainline titles out of Japan-based regions, they hired James Turner with his weird awkward designs, they began pushing muh PoC representation all over the place, the pokedex was largely just a Kanto retread, they started shoving unskippable dialogue down your throat to an extent never seen before, rivals became extremely boring, just a different feel to the series from that point on.
