It was the last time GF cared about making a quality game so we had animated sprites, seasons, actual postgame, and a sequel to continue the story instead of lame DLC or a third-version cash grab. Fans hated it because they couldn't understand that new regions would have pokemon fill similar roles (muh boldore is just Graveler!!!) and wanted more Kanto pandering and less content, so gen 6 was rushed out to make Let's Go and gens 7 and 8 are just lazy linear grinds that get you to multiplayer faster, not unlike call of duty
