The rainbow rod/serpent's wings are transparent, like a sun catcher/stained glass/insect's wings. So they case a rainbow down below wherever they are flying (as long as it's day, of course).

I think it paints a pretty picture, and can be used for dex material. And gives us something else to do with the design. If we want to stray from a Quetz, we could always do more insect-like wings to refer to rods.
