>>33022839>>33022852No seriously. I have a decent idea of how the anime industry makes money, and I don't at all see how "all anime is commercials" is anything but hyperbole.
I realize most (popular) anime makes its money through sales of physical media, merchandising, or through vertically integrated corporation (where the same conglomerate owns both, say, a production company and a manga publishing company -- and maybe a games development studio, record studio, etc. on top of it -- so its works effectively advertise one another), but again, this doesn't cover "all anime," which is why I'm saying this is a retarded generalization, and a retarded generalization that really only covers the biggest studios and most advanced producers.
If you think there's something I'm missing, feel free to tell me instead of being coquettish about it, but as it stands, I don't see how I'm wrong is saying "all anime is commercials" is sort of a stupid thing to say -- it'd be like applying the audience commodity thesis to the whole of Western television.
