To add salt to their wound, the national dex was never relevant, since almost nobody wanted to fill the pokédex outside of Pokémon Bank(HOME), even then, to complete it, you had to get some of them transferred from Gen3 and Gen4, especially if you skipped ORAS events in 2015. Needless to say that you'll never fully complete the dex without them.
