I think that's a pretty cool concept actually. Some sort of "what if" scenarios for how the evolutionary history of the pokémon world could have gone.
Too bad all we got was "dinosaurs/cavemen and robots" instead of something more akin to speculative evolution. But oh well, it's a kids' franchise so I guess they had to make the past/future theme more obvious.
