Always played Pokemon. Girls always found it cute, and girlfriends always would try to play with me. Current girlfriend got herself a 3DS last week so she'll be playing X and I Y.
Parents don't care. My father helped me get my Pikachu 3DS on launch day. When I was in my 4 year, I had my 3DS on me for streetpasses. Would play now and then.
Never really met anyone who cared, except my 6 year old cousin who was playing CoD. I really don't take his opinion into consideration because he believes in cooties still.
