On top of that he has a roster of regional Aces at his disposal where if he called upon them it'd be hard for any regular Trainer to take them out - likely goes for Elite Four members as well.
A team of:
>Pikachu>Charizard>Sceptile>Infernape>Greninja>Inciniroar/Lycanroc/Snorlax/Heracross Could give any Elite Trainer a run for their money. If Ash wants to be the best trainer he will have to fight the best, if he starts training hard and goes on a streak taking on E4 members like Alain did he could potentially give Leon a run for his money with a team like the above.
My biggest hope right now is that this "World Championship" leads to what everyone has been wanting for years now, Ash VS everyone in the past who defeated him - Ritchie, Tyson, Harrison, Tobias, Alain - to get his loses back and advance against Elite Trainers. Add Champs and Elite Four like Cynthia and Steven into the mix with those who beat Ash and you would have the biggest Pokemon Tournament of all time. If they let Ash be what we've always been dying to be as a veteran battler, he could easily fight against Champions and hold his own. Fuck the Galar League, bump the scale up to worldwide proportions and dedicate 50 episodes to that arc.
