Ok, for anyone curious I can confirm Tapu Koko is doable itemless, however I had a 20% win rate or so and being stubborn about wasting the SS I spent a good deal of coins getting it to SL2. Also it's infuriating when you manage to beat it and the fucker doesn't drop shit.
Team was M-Bee (SS, SL1, 15), Flygon (max), Dugtrio (15,SL5) and Groudon (15, SL5) so if you have less than that don't even think it. Tried with Camerupt and S-CharX as megas but they weren't cutting it.
