Bianca perfected the "friendly rival who copes with being unable to beat you and finds another path" route in Gen 5, Hop and Hau are shitty retries. Cheren is the best rival in the series since his arc ends perfectly with him being a gym leader working to raise new trainers up.
I don't remember anything about Barry other than him running into you, him being hyper stands out as a Pokemon character but that doesn't make him a good rival. Blue and Silver are great.
I like Gladion because Silvally is sick and I adore chuunis.
