Serena seemed to have never kissed Ash and outgrown her crush, when they met they didn't even seem that close or interact longer than 30 seconds. She didn't show any signs of liking him and doesn't even obsessively watch all his matches like Dawn, Ash seems way closer to Korrina and especially Iris. Greninja never actually transformed and it's bond with Ash wasn't even really that strong especially compared with Lucario now, ontop of Ash not even caring enough to display his medal in the Kalos league in his room despite him displaying the Royal mask Statue, Lillie's plush his Z-ring and his Alola league trophy all at once. It feels like every new bit of information regarding His time in Kalos just pushes it further down the hole of a filler region. Hell Kalos had two representatives in the masters 8 and both were well below the top 3 champions Ash fought in a row and both got no dif sweeped by Leon. It feels like at best Kalos was the region that made Ash realize he needed to get his shit together by still losing in a relatively low level league he was all but set to win. Despite the massive Kalos wank anons dish out in these threads Ash's true climb to victory and overwhelming win streaks didn't start until he visited Alola, essentially the real start of his journey. It kind of comes across as Ash losing his mojo after Sinnoh despite being at his peak and fumbling around for the next two regions
