>>53841366I have been the victim of both outlining too much in the past and too little. And now I'm 4 chapters into my Longfic with work begun on 5 realizing I have the vast majority of elements worked out for the middle and the end but a few key pieces missing and the tying together of these elements is an undertaking I'm staring down (and unfortunately the guy who was excited to help me is going through and extremely rough patch and can't be around for it).
I'm tempted to finish Chapter 5 and reassess from there.
I guess part of my problem is that the plot to a certain extent is a series of MacGuffins designed to drive the character development but the extent they have to go to to get them is the other thing. They're ancient relics that should have been lost through time, how'd they find out about their location?
I am bringing back a certain Character of the Day who's an archaeologist for this purpose so at the very least I have someone competent on the job which would help explain the process. And all the locations of the macguffins have been settled on (some original but worked into established lore, some pre-existing in lore). So I just need to answer these questions as well as what challenge awaits them as they go about acquiring them before the bad guys do.
picrel is CotD I'm bringing back (now a young adult as the picture shows)
