In regards to plot discussion from before, having Ricardo be the champ or work for the evil team would be stupid. Likewise, I saw plots having him help the protag against the evil team because of how cruel they are to Pokemon. Having him be a crook with a heart of gold who helps the protag because he thinks the evil team is just that evil would be stupid too. Any and all assistance to the protag given by Ricardo should be done only if Ricardo has a material gain in the pairing (or he literally has no other choice to). I'm tired as shit of "super edgy douchebags who have a sense of honor". Just make him a bad dude whose goals just so happen to line up with yours. Maybe even have him turn on you in the end when he thinks he can get away with it.
