the characters are cool but those designs and outfits are mostly ugly despite being also distinctive on their own
some are realistic but also extremely anonymous like dp lucas
i can totally see may and emerald brendan own charm in those gen 3 outfits, gair enough but i do still like the gen 6 revamps upgrades more, emerald brendan is fine too but the shorts on pants are still stupid
and yes gen 1 and gen 2 had that 90s and 80s anime pppular genres influence but doesn't really justify the body shapes and such, sugimori's early artstyle is recognizable and causes a bittersweet nostalgia but some of the human designs
of his are still a little ugly (at least compared to the more recent ones)
also gold/ethan's best part is probably his bag
