The problem was that there was no way to legitimately transfer them to XY at the time unless you were using a Japanese copy of XY and Bank since they had it first before it came out overseas and as for Sun/Moon it took them three months for whatever reason for them to turn on a flag that let the servers know that your imported bank mons were legit and okay to use online. This isn't the case in Sword/Shield. They're flat out removing pokemon that don't fit the theme of the region. If you obtain Mismagius somehow in a game and tried to transfer it to Sword and Shield, unless it's in the Galar regional dex, the game will treat Mismagius as if it doesn't exist and won't allow you to transfer it.
