I would recommend picking up a team from the Smogon forums and just playing. You’re not going to be amazing immediately, but you can get a more concrete understanding of the tier and how to play that way. Things to keep in mind:
>should I be switching right now? a ton of new players never or rarely switch and then lose in <20 turns>do i have and am i using stealth rock? hazards are a huge part of the game, it's okay if they get defogged/spun, but you should at least get in the habit of trying to get them up for now>what are my biggest threats in this match, and what are theirs? what do i have to do to make mine work and shut theirs down?>what is my opponent likely to do this turn, and how can i cover that with my own move? do i have to take a big risk, or do i have a "midground" that's pretty safe against everything?Places to get teams:
