I played through the demo and I am very impressed. The game really feels like a Pokemon game(in a good way). I had a few issues that I thought I should share.
Controls are very strange. X is usally confirm in PC games, here it's cancel. In Pokemon, the run button is always cancel, but here it only runs. Having the overworld menu button also be cancel is unintuitive. If it were up to me, this is how I'd set up the controls: Z as cancel. X as confirm. C as menu. V as toggle run on/off, not hold to run. Considering the game is on PC, it shouldn't be too difficult to let players configure their own controls.
Overall gameplay is slow, although I understand this is an issue with the engine.
Encounter rate is way too high.
After switching Pokemon, the game sets the cursor to "Pokemon". This isn't very intuitive and usually results in opening the menu again.
Catch rate formula or wiki info is fucked. Pebblosa is stated to have a catch rate of 255, but consistently takes 3+ Pokeballs to catch with low-red health. For comparison, Rattata has the same catch rate, and has a near 100% chance to be caught when it's in the red.
Why do deposit and withdraw options exist on the PC? Does anyone actually use these?
The Pickup ability seems to have a low chance of activating. It's 10% in the main series.
The EXP bar raises very slowly.
Effects do not display properly if the screen size is set to large(or small, I'm guessing).
You can change between the standing and running animations while you are frozen right before a wild encounter.
Not an issue: just want to say that the evolution animation is awesome.
Sorry if these complaints are common(or if I'm speaking out of line), just thought that you guys could use some feedback outside of the survey.
