The problem is that he eventually will have to win the Champion's League, or whatever 'next level challenge' they place before him. Even if they take him to Alola, if he's just as strong as he is now, he'll only get stronger there, and he'll only get stronger after that.
If he's never reset, he'll have to win everything eventually. In the end, those are the only two options, even if him being reset is a long time from now.
