this field is definitely an improvement to venam. the fuckin corrosive field or whatever she had before was bizarre and straight up weirdly overpowered for a first gym - i also think its really fucking weird for the fight to be essentially a tutorial for fields to not actually boost the power of the type of the gym, instead being some gay ass constant 130 BP venoshock nuke option for her seviper.
granted this field doesn't really boost her type either, but it's less horrifically unbalanced against a player and a much better tutorial/introduction to fields.
i do think it's odd she still has 'venam's kiss' as a signature move and not 'venam's riff' or some poison sound-themed move that could actually be boosted by the field
