My conkeldurr on pokemonshowdown does some good work for me.

Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Poison Jab
- Ice Punch
I start off every single fight with him without even having to think. I find fighting types are good for this, they're reliable starters. Good move type diversity. Conk is bulky so he's got defense covered both ways and his damage output is pretty good, with the ability to self recover from drain punch, which helps a lot to take out annoying pokemon like ferrothorn.
I'd say conk is a good man.
