Why does she have to go on the journey? Cause magic crystal macguffin will stop working otherwise. We dont know what actually happens to the carbink. It could be they are slightly inconvenienced by the lack of light or they might die. We have no fucking clue so we have no stake in the plot.
Diancie meets with Ash and co, do stupid shit that amounts to nothing, and Ashco decides to join Diancie.
Team Rocket captures Diancie, but let her go when she makes fake diamonds, which is the extent of their role.
So they go find Xerneas to unlock her special power. Dear god doesn't do shit and says the power is in her to begin with. So, we have power-within garbage.
Then there are bounty hunters trying to capture diancie or whatever and have no character, they only serve to accidentally awaken Yveltal whos in a puddle for some unexplained reason.
Birb starts wrecking shit and characters who we give no shits about start 'dying'
Diancie mega evolves to save Ash and chums, so we have the power-within bullshit arc completed.
Then she de-evolves, doesn't use her power to stop yveltal or anything. Deer god shows up, saves everyone, calms yveltal. No consequence.
Ash and co were literally pointless, the diancie character arc actually had no bearing on the main conflict, there was no motivation, the action sucked, we didnt care for the side characters who had no screen time, and the whole princess journey/power-within is so dumb a 4-year-old could have written it.
Absolutely nothing was accomplished during the course of the movie.
Utter garbage.
