The whole bullshit about eating pokemon (be it by humans or by fellow pokemon) feels like some out-of-place edgy crap as you never see it in the games and the supposed "predators" can be put in the same team as their "prey" and even breed with them.
I'd rather they kept real life's dumb animals as canonically existing to serve as preys for pokemon who would be superior entities who don't eat each others.
That's kinda what they did in the early anime btw
