Nothing about him really catches your attention, especially since his hair is hidden completely. Gloria, on the other hand, looks unique and interesting, more so than Chicken-chan or whoever the female protag in LGPE was. And her color palette is better - a green hat really stands out.
And the Scottish drunk jokes are funnier when it's a cute girl.
