Literally every one i've asked has basically said "I hope not. They made some weird ass pokemons. Gen 1 is the best."
Face it The Pokemon Company fucked up when they left behind the humble earthly designs of gen1 and started overdesigning things so they looked liked; their plush toys, were from outer space, hella-epic digimon, or their naked body was their clothes.
The "uninspired" designs like "duck holding it's head", "horse but on fire", "purple rat", "bull with 3 tails", "large cat with a jewel in it's head" were necessary because they grounded the pokemon world to our world.
And "bland, practical and lethal" designs like beedrill, scyther and kabutops gave the world a scary edge.
A lot of that is missing in the new generations. "original and creative" for the sake of being original and creative just gives you stupid overdesigned multi-coloured piles of excess and alienation.
They didn't need to wow us with every pokemon. They didn't need to sort each new design into "plush toy" "wow epic" "let's make something noone has ever even thought they could think of before".
They just needed to expand the original world.
