Though i must admit i thought the mostly positive reception + the novelty of the concept + this being the first major adaptation of perhaps the biggest franchise in the world would've guaranteed close to a billion. So in a way, i did get BTFO'd. I just assumed that if Venom could make nearly a billion despite being maligned by everyone, Pikachu could do the same. I'm surprised at the relatively average performance it had, really. Theaters were packed even though i went on the 17th and word of mouth was great too. The fact that it doesn't seem like it will even beat Warcraft is the most surprising part of it all. I wonder if a PG-13 rating would make it more palatable to a wide audience, after all, PG-13 is the most profitable rating overall by a longshot.
