>>38117689I think the early/mid gyms are definitely comfiest. Wouldn't have to worry about tryharding like the later gyms/E4. Could have more fun with it and use your favourites.
Would you do anything on the side besides leading the Gym? Most of them have some kind of important role in their community.
Personally I think I'd be happiest in Canalave City. It's quiet and out the way but not that far from Jubilife if you ever need something. I'm already going into engineering so I guess I'd end up working on the boats.
It's also comfy as hell, a nice library and Iron Island nearby for battling. Helps that steel is one of my favourite types.
