Language barriers aside, different cultures are bound to create interesting interactions between trainers from other areas of the world. Ex. Someone from downtown Unova may be shocked by Sinnoh's customs and legends. Potentially the traveling trainer would inquire how these myths shaped the culture of wherever. Or rely on a local guide.
A trainer's Pokémon might express likes and dislikes for differing locales too. Imagine a Porygon wandering around the Johto countryside, woefully unable to find a terminal or cell tower.
