The reason that I love red and blue is that when you saw a pokemon you wanted, you could just catch it. You didn't need to worry about if it had the gender you wanted, if it had the right ability, what its IVs were, and it was so much easier not to care about EV training.
I know all these additional features are suppose to enrich the experience, but they wind up taking you out of the moment when playing and force you to focus on trivial mechanics if you want your team to be good.
I love replaying Blue because it's so much more straight forward. I want to go back.
