Game Freak sometimes made references to their older games in Pokemon. I say "made" because they don't seem to do it much anymore. An example is pic related; Lisa Hatfield was the reporter from Pulseman. Rotom itself is likely a reference to Pluseman as well.
Another example is a placeholder sprite that can be seen through cheats/hacking RSE, which is taken from Mendel Palace/Quinty.
