>>53478490Yeah, and in hindsight I probably should have brought one of them along. I just wasn't expecting a sort of mini-boss battle like that so early into the game out of nowhere. I was expecting it to be more comparable to something like fighting an outlaw from earlier games or something, which, while obviously they were stronger than your team and stuff, wouldn't be like "can OHKO any member of your team right off the bat including the escort for this mission for shits and giggles." I mean I would expect something like that a good deal later in the game, after all I'm sure the 99F reset dungeon(s) will be in much the same vein but this was rather unexpected.
I still managed to pull it off, without having a party wipe and without bringing along a ton of reviver seeds or something by using some simple stratagems devised on the spot, but its a bit disappointing if this is the "vastly improved gameplay bro" that a couple people talked up so much to me about.
>>53478508The personality quiz it throws at you is a bit dumb too imo. It wanted to pair me up with a Pikachu right off the bat, which I don't really care for that mon. grass/electric also doesn't strike me as generally having much synergy in terms of how the characters would be either. I ended up going with Mudkip as the partner, which turned out to be a great choice in hindsight as far as the character goes kek (maybe should've named him memekip instead of Muddy or something). But yeah, I like going with the Pokemon I would wanna be as the protag, and at least a Pokemon that I like as the partner pokemon. Still a shame there was no Axew option for the partner mon though...But at least I can go back to him in GTI any time.
I do like to at least try out a different Pokemon partner each PMD game though, even if I end up going with a similar pokemon for the protag.
Its kinda fun to imagine that you're the same pokemon that ends up going through these scenarios due to whatever reason too.
