>>35871325I'm a crazy person who actually likes typed damage so no there won't be physical/special split. However, I'm going to be redoing literally every pokemon's stats with that in mind. The intent here is, make Dark physical damage and Ghost special damage, then look at Pokemon with "bad stats for their STAB" and make adjustments. Ultimately, I don't really feel like shortening a gap in lopsided offensive stats actually does a whole lot to a Pokemon's overall strength, just their usability.
Kingler has a signature move it can't use super well, so the obvious solution to me seems to be to make Crabhammer a little better, then make Kingler's Special Attack slightly higher. Sneasel's less in the shithole already by way of Dark being physical damage in this scenario, but it could stand to see some minor Special Attack buffs, too. Hitmonchan's easy. Just give Hitmonchan 110 Special Attack and take away a bunch of its Attack.
>>35871354yes>>35871364Adding to this, kinda mess around with the idea of the Rockets being Yakuza, since they basically are. If you wanna get edgy in this neighborhood, you can, but try not to go too overboard. The Rockets aren't after world domination, they're about profiteering through Pokemon abuse.
However, putting yourself in the past of the main timeline really limits what you can do that's of any consequence, so I'd suggest an AU timeline where you're able to use the setting as you see fit, but don't have to worry about not stepping on the toes of other "canon" events.
