I unironically enjoyed the meta for Gen 6 the most. It's not the gen I started with (that's actually gen 1), but it's the one that got me interested into comp in the first place and is also my favorite generation in general (my favorite game is Y, even though I'm aware it's basically a beta).
Mega Evolutions are also my favorite thing introduced this generation and I loved seeing and using them. Something about the power of trust/friendship letting you go further beyond your normal limits just seemed really cool, and while some pokemon didn't deserve them, some of them really did. Even discounting OU, I had fun on the battlespot a lot.
My favorite pokemon is Sableye and the day I woke to find his mega trailer without being spoiled to it beforehand is probably the best reveal I've had in this franchise, and I seriously loved using his Calm Mind set on a Balance team. It was even able to take on Mega Gardevoir because I was using Snarl to bypass Subs. Clefable, my second favorite pokemon, also became the literal Queen of the OU tier and all of her slow but steady boosts to power finally snowballed together when Kalos came out to make the OG Fairy a fucking beast. I'm also happy to see the gen 1 and 3 starters get Mega-Evolutions, since all of them needed it (I personally hate Charizard-X since I feel he goes against the core theme of Charizard but I understand he has fans and I don't blame them for liking it), along with pokemon who sucked and really needed it, like Sableye, Mawile, frickin Kang (though that worked too well), Pinsir, Lopunny and more. Even with Sableye got banned to Ubers (which I took as a badge of honor because holy shit) I still had fun in the tier with my last of my three favorites, Mega Venusaur, who was also really fun to use as a bulky offense mon in conjunction with Clef and normal Sableye.
It's probably no surprise then that I fucking hate Gen 7's OU with all my heart, but w/e I guess.
