Though I think they will just give him a regular Glalie because ORAS reference so that he has four Pokemon to battle Ash with. Either that or Walrein because its also a Hoenn Ice-type.
I wonder when exactly Ash will get a Mega Pokemon, regardless of what it actually is. Shota's existence basically negates the likelihood of Ash getting Mega Sceptile, unless Shota gets Mega Salamence because Zinnia reference and then Ash can just use Mega Sceptile.

I could imagine Shota acting arrogant if he was actually winning... until Ash makes a comeback and wins because Ash needs to beat Shota in the league before he can lose to the last-minute League rival.
