>>55359736In Back to the Future 2, Marty goes to 2015 which is futuristic in the movie, it features futuristic inventions whose purpose is "wow cool tech" appeal for the audience but the inventions are normal to the people living in 2015 as it is in the movie, such as self-tying shoes, instant drying jackets, hover skateboards, robot gas stations, dehydrated pizzas, weird Pepsi bottles, holographic movies etc, all these things are largely irrelevant to the plot and were primarily made for tonal and aesthetic flair, everything is clean and sleek and intentionally over-the-top, even the DeLorean was made cleaner and turned into a hover car. Most importantly, the 2015 in the movie is too advanced for the real 2025, let alone the real 2015, this is obviously partly due to the movie being made in 1989, but also because it was intentionally made to make wild unrealistic predictions rather than trying to have a grounded realistic 2015.
Similarly modern Pokemon media is also intentionally futuristic and clean and sleek with in-universe tech primarily made to wow the audience while being normal the the inhabitants of the setting, with over-the-top fashion and hairstyles and architecture and objects and design aesthetics, all of which are far from what's normal in the real world right now.
