So obviously, you'd need a new formula. Also, HP is a stat, so what would you use instead?
Anyway, even if you do make a more sensible formula, that would just make the movepool, ability and typing the only real considerations to what to use a mon. Do you know what happens to a metagame, ANY metagame of any competitive game (metagame is just what happens when individual analyses come together), when the number of possibile factors shrinks? Do you think the game will get MORE diverse or LESS diverse? Do you think MORE options will be viable or LESS options will be viable? I hate to sound condescending (not really, I love it) but if you thought this through a little more, you'd realize this would only make a hyper-centralized metagame.
