Most foods last longer than the printed expiration date, some can even last for years, if treated right (dry and right temp) such as cheese, butter jam and other things that have been sterilized in the making and then sealed shut, or is completely frozen when in the store.
couple that with the fact that most stores have to give you anything you find in their store that's passed the expiration, and you might get yourself a bunch of free food.
Even better, if you have some friends that work in a grocery store, chances are they can get you at least some of the things that would be thrown away anyways
especially bread, bread is often delivered in the morning and sent away after closing, but they're still just as good.
