Also version exclusive mega-evolution Mewtwos. Labeled X and Y Mewtwo. So uh. It's not Irrelevant if they're doing such big things imo.
The only way I could think of it as possibly 'irrelevant' is that they said only some Pokemon from the Past Gens would get the Mega-Evolutions.
